a new edition
Well here I am in the Okanagan (Summerland to be exact). We arrived last Thursday and Matt's parents picked us up at the Kelowna airport. Matt and his Dad were waiting for the luggage when our new puppy came out on the belt. His dad was really surprised...that was the point! Hee Hee.
We've had Baxter since Monday November 28th (but wanted to keep him a surprise from Matt's Dad until we got here). He is a Nova Scotia Duck Toller and he is super cute. Cute but a very busy boy. Always exploring and testing us. He's a little too smart at times. I find myself looking at him and noticing that all of a sudden he's grown. Soon he won't fit his crate and we'll have to get a new one. We are crate training him which means that when we leave the house or go to sleep at night he goes into his crate. He is doing really well with it and is actually in there as I write. The only time I get a chance to take my eyes off of him. Matt has a lot of patience and is doing most of the training. He will sit and come but we are still working on stay. He's just a puppy so I guess it will take a little longer for that command. He's just so busy exploring. So we are really enjoying our new edition and I suppose it's good training for us before having a child. One step at a time. Somehow, sometimes, I think having a child would be easier but then you couldn't leave them in a crate then go out to the store could you? Hee Hee.
We've had an awesome time with Matt's family so far. We had Christmas on Sunday and last night went over to Matt's brother's house for Matt's mom's birthday dinner. His brother has 4 children and an amazing wife who cooks and bakes like no body's business. On Thursday Matt's parents will drive us down to Vancouver so we can hop on the ferry and go to Victoria. All my family is there and I'm soooooooo excited to see them!
Until next time.
